A sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is in the works

Nintendo just blew everyone’s minds with its “one more thing” at the end of this year’s E3 Direct by announcing that a sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is in the works.

Yes, you read that right: a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild is currently in development.

A brief trailer started with Link and Zelda investigating a mysterious stream of light funneling into a cave. Riding what appears to be an elephant, Zelda and Link travel deeper into a spooky dungeon, where they find what appears to be the remnants of the evil calamity power being absorbed into a once-dead villain.

Honestly, we have no idea what’s going on in the trailer, but we don’t really need to know. A direct sequel to any Zelda game is exciting, especially when it’s a sequel to Breath of the Wild.

Obviously, no release date was announced, but just knowing that it’s in development, seemingly for the Switch, is enough to make us intrigued and excited.
