System crashes didn't stop Anthem from topping the PS4 charts

Anthem launched to a flurry of less-than-favorable reviews and reports that the game was crashing consoles. Despite all that, Sony has revealed that BioWare’s looter shooter was the most-downloaded game on PlayStation 4 in February.

February was a crowded month for triple-A releases, but the rest of the list might surprise you. Following Anthem was Jump Force, the anime fighting game with the cartoony characters and highly detailed backgrounds. Grand Theft Auto V was somehow number three, beating out Red Dead Redemption 2, which came in tenth. The only other game that came out in February to break the top 10 was Far Cry New Dawn at number eight, which was also beaten out by Far Cry 5 at number six. The month’s other major release, Metro Exodus, didn’t even make the top 10.

As for free-to-play games, I’ll give you one guess as to what was the most downloaded title. That’s right: it was Apex Legends. Over 50 million people have downloaded Respawn’s battle royale title since its surprise launch on February 4th, so it’s not shocking that the game beat out Fortnite. What is surprising is that Realm Royale is still gathering steam, taking the number two spot over Fortnite as well, which came in at number three.
