TITLE: Dragon’s Crown
PLATFORM(S): PlayStation®3, PlayStation®Vita
RELEASE DATE: Aug. 6, 2013
GENRE: Action, Beat ‘Em Up, Hack and Slash
ESRB: T
PLAYERS: 1-4
GAME URL: atlus.com/dragonscrown

ADG , the one man VG publicist is still clearing out some of his gaming loose ends from 2013. One of those gaming loose ends is Dragon’s Crown from Atlus. This game is pretty much slasher and loot. Yes, just like other RPG loot style games but this time from a side-scrolling aspect with hack and slash elements.  This game also offers an old school 2D feel that will make old school gamers feel at home and at ease.

The story of Hydeland simply reads as follows..

The paths that lead people into this land are manifold and varied, but they share a single goal. Now you have journeyed here to brave the dangers of the monster-ridden dungeons. Daring adventurers from far and wide have come to face the labyrinths on the outskirts of town, and you are joining their ranks. You must first gather a strong party. No one adventurer will be able to overcome these trials alone. Let us begin your journey…I wish you good luck.

The features of this game are not really that ground breaking but they work very well. You play as 6 distinct and unique character classes throughout your journey.  Up two four players can play locally or online which makes a good game to play no matter the situation and gives you a chance to show off your skills and loot. My favorite thing in the game features is the ability to add cpu characters to your party by resurrecting falling soldiers from their bones. Even if you don’t have friends or the ability to play online they will be other heroes fighting by your side. Other features are the ability to customize your journey and dungeon variety.

The presentation is very well and unique from the sound , artwork, and graphical design. This game has been taunted for its sexual characters. I feel it was done just enough in taste with the times but some will probably disagree. Dragon’s Crown gets points from me in this department for taking a risk.

Short And Simple..

Worthy Of It’s Crown

8.3/10 Play It!
