ADG ventures off to a new innovative console, OUYA, for this Short And Simple Review. This console was created by founder and CEO Julie Uhrman. OUYA brings an android and open development environment to consoles. For only $99, you can have games that are all free to try and innovative hardware that supports the downloading and streaming of content in 1080p HD quality for gamers like us to enjoy.
I want to begin this review talking about what didn’t appeal to me with the OUYA. The browser although works well stability wise but navigating is a pain. The controller is great but some of the gameplay decision on what button exits, go back in the menu is very confusing. There are times when I wanted to exit games but couldn’t find the button to do so. Also, I said it about Nintendo and the OUYA will get the same response from ADG. “Where are the achievements ?!” I feel they’re needed always in this day of time. Achievements give the gamer a since that he is doing something worthy of his spare time. Things like this will just make people play the usual PC, Microsoft, and Sony games instead of powering on their OUYA.
The OUYA downloads and streams very well. My games didn’t take that long to become available. My movies didn’t stutter or flicker. I can’t wait to see what other great streaming services come to OUYA. Surprising Netflix or Hulu isn’t officially there but I’m sure you might be able to use an unofficial app and install it on the console till their is (but don’t quote me on that).
OUYA has a decent lineup of games and features that warrants it’s $99 price tag. The ability to stream media on it alone grants that price but when you add in the ability to play some awesome games this is a purchase for gamers. The OUYA would also make a good gift for newcomers of gaming or old school gamers thinking to get back into gaming.
