Skulls Of The Shogun jumped to the hands of gamers on January 30th. The game is looking to offer strategic gaming online and offline on X-Box Live and Windows 8 devices.  The game offers game-play across platforms as well. This game designed by 17-Bit gained a lot of hype when it was shown at various gaming events such as PAX this past year.

The Xbox 360 version is now available for 1200 Microsoft Points in the Xbox Live Marketplace, and for a limited time will debut at a discounted price for Windows 8 PC, Microsoft Surface, and Windows Phone. The Windows 8 and Windows Surface version are now $9.99 (normally $14.99) in the Microsoft Store, and the Windows Phone version is $4.99 (normally $6.99) in the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Description

Skulls of the Shogun is the first project by Haunted Temple Studios, a new indie team comprised of ex AAA developers, who worked together at EA Los Angeles on Steven Spielberg’s projects and Command and Conquer. In this arcade-strategy game, players take turns guiding portions of their army of phantom Samurai in ghostly combat in the Samurai afterlife. It’s not a giant battle simulation, it’s a fast paced, intense skirmish where every hit counts! Eat the skulls of your enemies to turn your units into powerful war demons and defeat the opposing Shogun!

Features

• Accessible, gridless, simple interface married with deep, layered tactical strategy and wildly variable battle outcomes.

• Beautiful hand-drawn 2D high resolution art, inspired by a mash up of classic 1960’s anime and modern urban vinyl character design.

• Save your game at any point during the deep, immersive Drop-in and drop-out anytime with co-op and competitive multi-player
gameplay, save-game at anytime, as well as an engrossing original story and deep single player experience.

• Amazing soundtrack influenced by classic Samurai Films, dub music and high drama created by world class Tokyo DJ Makyo of Dakini Records.

Yes ! This Game Comes Complete With Achievements Like All XBLA Games!

First thing you will notice when you boot up Skulls Of The Shogun. Is the humorous yet gory antics in the game’s presentation. From the slashing of swords skeeting out blood from the bodies of samurai’s to even eating the heads of your fallen enemies you will be drawn in to the world of Skulls Of The Shogun.

Secondly, you will notice this is not just a slasher. It is turn based strategy designed for you to think each and every move before you advance. This same strategy holds true if it is in single player, local multi-player or “Skulls On The Couch” as the game calls them, and online multi-player (Skulls Online).   There is even a mode dubbed “Skulls Anywhere” you can send turns back and forth at different times, anywhere, on 360, Windows Phone , and Windows 8.

Skulls Of The Shotgun Offers Crossplay Across Platforms And Devices

The game has a learning curve of about 2 hours. Although you will learn the game it will take time to become a master and be the best among those online. There’s numerous ways you can play this game so having different offensive and defensive strategies plus knowing your stuff is the key.

Overall Score : 7.8 “Play It”   Skulls of The Shogun falls a little short on keeping you playing for long hours. This game is also mainly for gamers looking for a strategic game to play online and offline.
