What would Super Mario Bros. be like if Bowser were a terrorist, Shy Guys were heavily-armed soldiers, and Toad a master of gun kata? Maybe something like Mario Warfare.

This first chapter of Mario Warfare comes from the folks at Beat Down Boogie in Raleigh, North Carolina. “Imagine ‘Super Mario Brothers meets Blackhawk Down’—with a healthy dose of humor” the group says about this fan project on their Kickstarter page.

Yes, indeed—it seems that in order to finish Mario Warfare beyond the already-filmed first two episodes, Beat Down Boogie are needing to secure some additional funds. Watch the first episode below, see what you think, and if it interests you at all, I’ve linked the Kickstarter page at the bottom of this story.

But, uhm… Bowser is going to destroy all of the toilets in the Mushroom Kingdom? That seems like a very, very terrible idea for a number of reasons.
