E3 2012: New Super Mario Bros. U on the Way to Wii U

Nintendo confirmed that New Super Mario Bros. U will be coming to the Wii U at today’s press conference.
Like the previous New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it will be a multiplayer 2D platform. Mario, Luigi, and two toads will be aong the available characters.
One of the more interesting features is the new “boost mode.” Using the Wii U pad, an additional player will be able to drop blocks to assist in potential speed runs.
There is no release date for New Mario Bros. U as of yet, but a fall release seems likely.
