They will rock you
An all-star band that includes the composer from “Battlestar Galactica” and the guitarist of the Adult Swim band Dethklok are teaming up for an AIDS Project Los Angeles benefit concert to honor Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
In the announcement, Small declared, “”Queen is my favorite band on Earth. If I hadn’t heard the Flash Gordon theme at the age of 7, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be in show business. I’m excited to play some of my favorite songs.”
Being held November 9 at the Roxy Theater in Hollywood, “The Show Must Go On” band will consist of “Battlestar Galactica” and “The Walking Dead” composer Bear McCreary on piano, “Metalocalypse” creator and Dethklok guitarist Brendan Small, former Frank Zappa and Steve Vai guitarist Mike Keneally, Young Beautiful In A Hurry frontman Brendan McCreary on lead vocals, Gwen Stafani’s guitarist Rick Musallam, and Zappa Plays Zappa’s Pete Griffin and Joe Travers on bass and drums, respectfully. Rounding out the ensemble are backing vocalists Felice Hernandez of Pretzel Logic, Ben Thomas of Zappa Plays Zappa, and Raya Yarbrough, who’s best known for her vocals on the theme song from “Galactica.”
A number of surprise guests are also expected to participate.
Tickets for the show will be $35.00 and are available at http://www.theshowmustgoon.us with all the proceeds going to AIDS Project Los Angeles.
