“LA JETÉE” & “SANS SOLEIL” BLU-RAY ANNOUNCED

Science fiction double feature
Criterion have announced that a Blu-ray of the Chris Marker’s French science fiction films “La Jetée” and “Sans Soleil” will be released on February 7, 2012.
Released in 1962, the short film “La Jetée” is best known for being the inspiration for Terry Gilliam’s “12 Monkeys.”
Both films have been digitally transferred with approval by Marker.
Also included are two interviews with filmmaker Jean-Pierre Gorin, a video piece on Marker called “Chris On Chris” made by filmmaker and critic Chris Darke, a segment from the French TV show “Court-circuit” about the “La Jetée”-inspired music video for David Bowie’s “Jump They Say,” a second segment from “Court-circuit” about the influence of Alfred Hitchock’s “Vertigo” on Marker, Marker’s short film about the Emeryville Mudflats called “Junktopia,” and a booklet with an essay by Marker scholar Catherine Lupton, an interview with Marker, and notes on the films by Marker.
The disc will retail for $39.95.
