Shout! Factory have announced that all of the Mr. Magoo cartoons from the ’60s and ’70s will be released on November 8.
Called “Mr. Magoo: The Television Collection (1960-1977),” this eleven-disc boxed set will include all twenty-six episodes of “The Mr. Magoo Show,” which ran in 1960 and ’61, the twenty-six episodes of 1964’s “The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo,” the TV movie “Uncle Sam Magoo” from 1970, and the sixteen episode run of “What’s New Mr. Magoo” from 1977.
All of which feature Jim Backus — y’know, Mr. Howell from “Gilligan’s Island” — as the voice of the nearsighted Magoo, a role he first started voicing in the 1949 short “Ragtime Bear.”
Also included are a featurette called “Oh Magoo…You’ve Done It Again!”, a photo gallery with original drawings and storyboards, and commentaries by animation historians Jerry Beck, Darrel Van Citers, and others.
“Mr. Magoo: The Television Collection (1960-1977)” will retail for $79.97 and is available for preorder on Shout! Factory’s website HERE or on Amazon.com HERE.
