May We Have These Please
BBC Home Video has announced the DVDs and Blu-rays they’ll be releasing this May.
On May 8 they’ll be releasing three different vintage “Doctor Who” collections. “Doctor Who: Nightmare Of Eden” has the Tom Baker-era Doc helping out when two spaceships collide. Besides a digitally remastered version of the episode, the disc will also include audio commentary, a making-of featurette, an interview with the writer, a photo gallery, and a featurette called “The Doctor’s Strange Love.” It will retail for $24.98.
The other two Who collections — “Doctor Who: Dragonfire” and “Doctor Who: The Happiness Patrol” — feature the seventh Doc, Sylvester McCoy, and have him running into an old friend at a remote colony in the former and visiting a planet where sadness is illegal in the latter. Both have been digitally remastered, and will include an audio commentary, making-of featurette, deleted scenes, and other extras. They will also retail for $24.98 each.
Two weeks later, the BBC will fittingly celebrate one of Doctor Who’s biggest influences when they release “Sherlock: Season Two” on DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray ($39.98). Besides three new 90-minute-long stories — which were executive produced by the e.p. on Doctor Who, Steven Moffat — these collections will also include commentary on two episodes and a behind-the-scenes featurette called “Sherlock Uncovered.”
