Fox Home Video have announced that David Lynch’s 1986 cult classic Blue Velvet will be released on Blu-ray on November 8.
Called the Blue Velvet: 25th Anniversary Edition, the collection will not only feature the movie in high def, but it will also include over fifty minutes of previously unreleased deleted scenes that were, until recently, thought you have been lost. For this release, their digital transfer and color correction has been overseen by Lynch, who said of them in the press release, “It’s like the song ‘Amazing Grace.’ The footage was lost but now it’s found.”
Also found on this collection (sorry) are other outtakes, though these have been included on previously home video releases.
Fox did not indicate how much the disc would retail for. Or whether Lynch wishes to apologize for making people think Pabst Blue Ribbon is a better beer than Heineken.
Aside from this Blu-ray, Lynch is also releasing a solo album in November. Crazy Clown Time features fourteen original songs by Lynch, who plays guitar and vocals. The album will be released on CD, LP, and digitally on November 8 by Sunday Best Recordings/PIAS.
