Please Mr. Fantasy

Criterion have announced that the Blu-ray edition of Steven Soderbergh’s “Traffic” will be released on January 17.

The film will be presented with a new digital transfer overseen by Soderbergh and the film’s Supervising Sound Editor/Rerecording Mixer Larry Blake, and will feature three audio commentaries: one with Soderbergh and writer Stephen Gaghan; a second that pairs Producers Laura Bickford, Edward Zwick, and Marshall Herskovitz with consultants Tim Golden and Craig Chretien; and a third with Composer Cliff Martinez.

The collection will also include 25 deleted scenes that have optional commentary by Soderbergh and Gaghan, additional unused multi-angle footage, the original trailer and TV spots, an essay by film critic Manohla Dargis, and a gallery of U.S. Customs canine squad trading cards.

As if that wasn’t enough, the disc will also have three demonstrations of interest to would-be filmmakers: one on film processing add the look of Mexico sequences, a second on film editing with commentary by Editor Stephen Mirrione, and a third on dialog editing.

The Blu-ray will retail for $39.95.
