Ready Steady Go
Random House and Broadway Paperbacks have announced that the paperback edition of Ernest Cline’s “Ready Player One” — the novel about a gamer who plays a fully-immersive sci-fi MMO for real world prizes, and with real world consequences — will be out June 5.
The comic novel became a favorite among gamer and game journalists (like me) with its nods to old school games as (“Zork,” “Tempest,” etc), cult movies (“The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension,” “The Last Starfighter”), anime (“Cowboy Bebop”), and prog rock (Rush’s “2112”). The book is currently being turned into a book by Warner Brothers Pictures.
The paperback edition will include an all-new cover.
To promote the new edition, Cline will be taking his DeLorean on the road for some book signings, with stops in Austin, San Francisco, and Madrid.
