Paramount Home Video has announced that “Star Trek: The Next Generation” will be released on Blu-ray next year, and will kick off with “Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Next Level,” a single disc sampler available January 31.

No release date was announced for the first seasonal collection of “ST:TNG,” but Paramount did say it would be out in 2012, and that these new high def transfers of the show would also be seen on TV.

In the meantime, “The Next Level” collection will include the show’s original two-part pilot, “Encounter At Farpoint” as well as the episodes “The Inner Light” and “Sins Of The Father.” The disc will retail for $21.99.
