Sad songs say so much

Rhino Handmade has announced that the iconic British rock band The Smiths will be the subject of a limited edition boxed set, due out in late October.

Limited to 4000 copies worldwide, with only 750 being available in the U.S., The Smith’s Complete will include all four studios albums (1994’s The Smiths, 1985’s Meat Is Murder, 1986’s The Queen Is Dead, and 1987’s Strangeways, Here We Come), their 1988 live album Rank, and the compilations of singles and B-sides Hateful Of Hollow, The World Won’t Listen, and Louder Than Bombs.

All of the albums have been digitally remastered from the original studio tapes by Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr.

Besides including all of the discs on both CD and vinyl, the box will also include all of the original 7-inch singles with their original artwork, 12-inch art prints of the album covers, expanded liner notes by writer Lois Wilson, a 36×24-inch poster which pictures the covers of the albums, and a DVD of their music videos called The Complete Picture.

Complete, if you can get it, will retail for $499.98.

If you can’t, though, Rhino are also releasing a CD-only of all eight albums with the liner notes for $68.98, as well as a vinyl version $249.98 that will include the aforementioned liner notes as well as the cover art poster.
