BBC Home Entertainment have announced that two classic “Doctor Who” stories will be released on DVD on February 14.
Presenting a story with the first actor to play the sci-fi shamus, “Doctor Who: The Sensorites” has the good Doctor — here played by William Hartnell — landing on a distant planet where they find some humans in suspended animation, and the aliens who’ve put them there.
Extras on this collection include a commentary, two featurettes, a photo gallery, and original design drawings. It will retail for $24.98.
Meanwhile, “Doctor Who: The Saves Of Androzani: Special Edition” has the Doc — here played by Peter Davidson — caught in the middle of a war, and he may be one of its causalities.
This collection comes with a commentary, extended scenes, making-of featurettes, and a photo gallery. It will retail for $34.98.
Along with those two archival releases, BBC America will also release the most recent Christmas special — “Doctor Who: The Doctor, The Widow, And The Wardrobe” — on DVD and Blu-ray the same day.
That collection includes the retrospective specials “The Best Of The Doctor,” “The Best Of The Companions,” and “Best Of The Monsters,” with the DVD retailing for $14.98 while the Blu-ray will be $19.89.
