THE BUZZ: Namco Bandai has filed a new trademark for Pac-Man Smash.

The title hasn’t been revealed by the publisher, so this could point towards an imminent announcement. No other details were included with the filing.

EGM’s TAKE: It looks like Namco is once again set to bring the Pac-Man franchise out of its little box on the big shelf of old-school games. Why publishers have to keep messing with these classic franchises is beyond us, just let the poor fellow grow old and enjoy retirement. There’s no need to keep trying to reinvent him just to make some extra cash.
