THE BUZZ: Angry Birds games were downloaded more than 6.5 million times on Christmas Day, according to developer Rovio.

The number includes both paid and free versions of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio. Even more impressive is that it is close to the exact number of smart phones that were activated Christmas Day. “We’re really excited to have such a massive number of new people get acquainted with Angry Birds over the holidays — we have exciting new releases lined up for 2012, and can’t wait to introduce them to the public,” Rovio’s Ville Heijari said.
