EA and Maxis recently released a 20-minute gameplay video for The Sims 4 that revealed the inclusion of a Sims 4 Premium Membership—a first for the series.
Mid-way through the above video a banner pops up advertising the Battlefield-style Premium Membership that will apparently offer early access to new item packs, according to the description.
“The Sims 4 Premium. Save on new packs with early access and exclusive items,” it reads. “Become a Premium member to get early access to three new packs, with exclusive items. Your Sims can throw a spooky costume party, camp in the great outdoors, and toast to the new year in style.”
Previously EA has released Premium Editions of The Sims games that have offered bonus content, but an actual membership has never been seen before. Presumably it will work like Battlefield Premium where players pay up front for early access to all planned DLC packs.
The Sims 4 is set to launch September 2 for Windows PC, and a Mac launch is expected shortly after.
