2K Marin creative director Jordan Thomas has left the studio in order to pursue pursuits of the indie variety.

“The atmospheric pressure of 3 BioShocks shaped me,” Thomas tweeted. “Deeply grateful. Time to take wing (or fall into the sea.) I’m a free agent now!”

“And to celebrate my first (public) day of indie dev… I am home w/ my level 0 son,” he added. “Making sure he doesn’t get ganked in the noob zone. :|”

Thomas worked on the PlayStation 3 version of BioShock, led development of BioShock 2 as creative director, and was later promoted to creative director of the 2K Marin studio. The former 2K Marin dev also had a hand in BioShock Infinite‘s development.

The nature of Thomas’ newfound indie career has yet to be defined—it’s unclear whether he’s working solo, planning to collaborate with an established studio, or what. The same amount of information (read: none) is known about whatever type of game he plans to create.
