2K Sports Announces NBA 2K12 Legends Showcase DLC for NBA 2K12

Posted on October 20, 2011 AT 12:07pm

THE BUZZ: 2K Sports announced a holiday treat for NBA 2K12 fans, the NBA 2K12 Legends Showcase DLC, featuring completely new graphics and gameplay.

Instead of just throwing in a few new classic players, or a new challenge mode or two, it looks as though 2K Sports has gone all out in creating the Legends Showcase DLC. As you can see from the pictures, the Legends Showcase features new, cell-shaded art that brings an entirely new feel to the game.

Set in New York City’s Time Square, the DLC pack provides a new gaming experience, unlocking hours of additional play and giving fans another reason to return to their favorite all-star players. Choose from more than 150 of the NBA’s all-time greatest players, including Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Dr. J, and compete in authentic pick-up games from 1-on-1 up to 5-on-5.  Legends Showcase also features mini-games, such as 21 and H-O-R-S-E, along with other new features like the 2-on-2 Teammate Challenge and 3-on-3 Era Challenge.

The pack also features unlockable current NBA players, allowing players to match-up legends and current stars.  Finally, players can inject their ‘My Player’ character into the mode to take on the legends personally.

If all that isn’t enough, the pack also opens a new mode in the main game. Quick Match allows gamers to play online with the NBA’s Greatest teams in a regular simulation setting.

NBA 2K12 Legends Showcase will be available this holiday season on Xbox Live and PSN, for 800 Microsoft Points and $9.99 respectively.

EGM’s TAKE: It seems as though 2K Sports is doing everything in its power to keep us from missing the all but dead NBA season. We dig the new graphics, and if the gameplay lives up to

Marc Camron is pleased to finally get a little bit of time to enjoy new games this holiday season, even if Batman: Arkham Knight isn't one of them. The rest of the time will be spent getting ready for CES in Vegas, starting on January 5th. At least it should be warmer there than in Colorado.
