A Facebook post from 2K Sports community manager Chris Managing outlines some of the changes being made to NBA 2K14‘s Crew mode.
Crew mode, announced for NBA 2K14 in August, previously appeared in NBA 2K10 and 2K11. Changes to Crew mode in NBA 2K14 revolve around balance, according to Manning. After building a MyPLAYER through MyCAREER, players can take them online in either 3-on-3 half-court matches or 5-on-5 full-court (both played on blacktop courts). First to 21 wins.
“Balance was a focus, especially as the new defensive improvements were incorporated in the game this year, “Manning wrote in the post. “With the introduction of more signature skills, better physicality, and the new, awe-inspiring blocking targeting system, defense will play a major part in crews. Furthermore, the team made sure to incorporate fatigue, which was tuned specifically for Crews to make it even more realistic. Again, the focus was making a balanced, competitive game mode despite the progression of individual MyPLAYERS.”
NBA 2K14‘s Crew mode also allows for fully customizable team names, abbreviations, and Jersey customization (including colors for both home and away, logos, and design style).
NBA 2K14 launches on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 October 1 in North America, October 4 in Europe. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will launch alongside the new consoles on November 15 (November 29 in Europe) and November 22 respectively. Crew mode will only be available on current-gen versions of NBA 2K14 (PS3 and Xbox 360).
