Rumors started circulating last month stating that 343 Industries is busy working on a HD upgrade for Halo 2, following the success of Halo Anniversary, the developer has now come out and denied that this is the case.

According to various sites, 343 mentioned the rumors in a recent Q&A posted on Microsoft Expertzone, a registration-only platform used to train retail partners. When asked if there would be any chance of seeing a HD remake of Halo 2 before the end of this console generation, 343 replied: “We are not working on that at this time. We are kind of busy.”

Microsoft issued the usual “we do not comment on rumors or speculation” line when asked about the Q&A. With the team busy trying to get Halo 4 out the door it would be a bad move to split focus, however, it wouldn’t be surprising if they start work on it after Halo 4 ships.
