4A Games has announced that it is set to open a new studio in Malta, and has also teased that it is currently working on “unannounced titles within the Metro universe as well as further, unannounced projects.”
The new Malta studio will serve as 4A’s headquarters, with its current studio in Kieve, Ukraine continuing to operate as normal. Key members from the Kieve studio will relocate to Malta to help oversee the transition, including creative director Andrew Prokhorov and chief technical officer Oles Shishkovstov.
“By basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage” said CEO Dean Sharpe. “Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond.”
“This marks the start of a new chapter for 4A Games. “We are proud of our achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so far. The team is looking forward to this new adventure,” added Andrew Prokhorov.
Following a series of leaks, Deep Silver and 4A Games confirmed earlier this year that Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light would be re-released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as Metro: Redux.
