A DSiXL of a different (rose) color

Posted on September 9, 2011 AT 01:00pm

THE BUZZ: Found thanks to a new pre-order page on Amazon, September 18th will bring a new color variation of Nintendo’s DSiXL—Metallic Rose.

EGM’s TAKE: Sure, Nintendo releasing a piece of DS hardware in a new color choice is about as unsurprising as they come in terms of video game-related news items at this point, but the available colors for the DSiXL line have always been interesting. Nintendo originally released the hardware revision in more “adult” tones—Burgundy and Bronze—and since then, they’ve kept the line very conservative in terms of additional options. (The boldest choice coming from the special Mario Kart-themed red DSiXL.)

Metallic Rose is a choice that can still fit in with that more mature marketing push for the DSiXL, yet also adds a bit of “fun” to what has otherwise been a somewhat drab selection of offerings.

You have to understand—for those of us who care about what color our electronics come in, new system variations are serious business.
