Destiny 2 is already sporting more rumors than a small town, and now even more details may have been leaked for the upcoming sequel to Bungie’s shared-world shooter.
A Reddit User who posts under the moniker, “Inside_Leaks,” stated that they have an inside source at Bungie who has revealed quite a bit about Destiny 2. According to the claim, the game will be titled Destiny 2: Forge of Hope. The game is also supposed to follow the events of the massive expansion that arrived in 2015, Destiny: The Taken King.
“The sequel will heavily focus on chronological events set after the Fall 2015 expansion, The Taken King,” the post reads. “The Cabal forces attack the city leaving the civilians and mentors of the Tower defenseless. It is the Guardians’ job to fight back the Cabal and reclaim the city.”
This information supports the recent Mega Bloks leak that featured play sets that showed Cabal fighting in the Tower Hanger.
“While doing so, the Guardian will discover the long lost stories of Queen Mara Sov and The Exo Strangers’ motives,” hte purported leak continues. “The story will culminate with the tower and city fighting back the Cabal empire resulting the Guardian defeating the leader of the Cabal in the new Raid.”
That all sounds pretty great, especially if we’re supposed to get the game this fall, as was rumored and the post agrees with. According to Inside_Leaks, the sequel should drop sometime between November 4th and 18th, with a major expansion focusing on the Vex in Fall 2018.
“Bungie is scheduling for an event release every 1-2 months, centering around a theme similar to Overwatch while also delivering new narrative paths and new game play mechanics,” the post adds.
Don’t plan on bringing your Guardian along with you from Destiny, however, as the post sadly claims that gamers will have to start over. On the bright side, they also claim that the new character creation will have more options, including facial hair—something I’ve always been passionate about.
Destiny 2 is rumored to release in late 2017 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Project Scorpio, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PC.
