Nintendo has announced that players will soon be able to pre-download games before release on Wii U and 3DS.

President Satoru Iwata revealed during the company’s latest financial results briefing that the Wii U would be following the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One by allowing players to download games before release. The first game to take advantage of this new feature will be Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The ability to pre-download 3DS titles will follow in 2015.

Iwata also revealed that players will be able to pre-download digital copies of games bought from third-party retailers.

It also looks like things are on the up for Nintendo as the company posted an operating profit last quarter. You can read more here.
