Downfall, the upcoming expansion for Absolver, will arrive in September, developer Sloclap has announced.

The center piece of this expansion is a new game mode titled Downfall. The mode sees players battling deep in the mines of Adal either alone or online in cooperative play to collect Gleam from infected Prospects. The more Gleam players capture, the more powerful they become. Each run through the mode is unique with a variety of challenges and situations, upgraded enemies, and three boss fights.

“From the Fold, an Etheran called Iktar contacts Absolvers: his sibling Arcell is spreading Gleam deep down in the Adalian mines, and gaining power over Lost Prospects,” the developer explains. “The barrier to the Fold could be shattered, imploding the physical realities into abstractions and concepts. A path to the Fold and to Arcell can be found, beyond the Underground Temples – the truth will appear there, in a place where the fabric of reality is being torn apart…”

Alongside Downfall, players will also gain access to the Faejin Combat Style. This new style “blends defense and offense with percussive strikes and fluid power” and is inspired by Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do. Faejin features 26 attacks for bare hands and wargloves, plus 15 sword attacks.

Players can also look forward to six new sets of full gear, two prestige variants of existing gear, new masks, six new emotes, and School Challenges, a new way for players and Schools to compete against each other.

Slocap also offered an update on the Xbox One versions of the game, stating that it “can’t give a precise date yet,” but is working on it. The developer added that the “online architecture of the Xbox Live is quite different from both Steam and PSN” and “requires significant efforts to adapt and ensure all the systems run smoothly.”

Absolver is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC.
