Activision has stated that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 generated $500 million in its first 24 hours of being on sale, making it the biggest game launch of the year.
The figure was consolidated via sales monitor GFK Chart-Track along with “retail customer sell-through information” and “internal company estimates.” The numbers aren’t official as of yet, but if they turn out to be then Black Ops 2 will set a new entrainment record.
“With first day sales of over half a billion dollars worldwide, we believe Call of Duty is the biggest entertainment launch of the year for the fourth year in a row,” said Activision chief executive Bobby Kotick.
