When Call of Duty Elite first launched, some technical problems and server issues caused Activision to promise early members would have their subscriptions extended by a month. That extension has now come—but you’re getting more time than originally promised.

According to an update now being sent out, those who were early subscribers to Call of Duty Elite will have their memberships—in regards to the services for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3—extended until March 1st, 2013.

Then—according to Joystiq—should your membership expire on March 1st, or after that date, your “Premium” Elite account will switch to a “Free” Elite account. At that point, you should still have all of the benefits you had when your account was still considered to be of Premium status.

If this all sounds a bit confusing, my assumption is that this is all being done due to the fact that the same Call of Duty Elite services are going to be free for Black Ops 2 players. So, it really wouldn’t make much sense to have Elite be pay for the older Call of Duty game, and free for the new one.
