Activision: No Charge For Call of Duty Multiplayer Ever

Posted on June 1, 2011 AT 03:56am

Following the announcement that Call of Duty: Elite will be launching this November many Call of Duty fans have been worrying that this means the start of a subscription based world for Call of Duty titles however Activision has stressed that they will never charge for multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Elite is a new social network developed alongside Modern Warfare 3 for the Call of Duty franchise.

Jamie Berger, Vice President of Digital at Activision stated that there will be free, premium and top-tier subscription packages for the service once it launches however he also said that Activision will not charge for accessing Modern Warfare 3′s multiplayer component.

There has been a lot of speculation on this point, but Call of Duty
does not, and will not charge you to play multiplayer, and that is our
continued commitment to our players.

We have tens of millions of players playing Call of Duty every month, we know that group of people is too large and too
diverse to create a one seize fits all pricing strategy.

We know that when our fans buy Call of Duty, they expect to be able to
play the full game out of the box at no additional charge, in both
single player, co-op and the best multiplayer in the world. That is our
continued commitment to that.
