A game we’ve been waiting more than half a decade for finally has a release date.
Below, Capybara Games’ action-adventure roguelike, was first announced way back at E3 2013, when Microsoft was promoting the very first batch of games for Xbox One. At the time, the game was meant to release in summer 2016. When that release date passed, the game went back underground, and didn’t resurface again until E3 2018, when its developer promised Below would launch in 2018. Now, we finally have a release date: December 14th.
The launch trailer shows fans some of what they can expect: a dark and mysterious underground adventure with a gorgeous art style and a soundtrack by Jim Guthrie.
“Test your adventurer mettle against The Isle’s procedural suberranean labyrinths,” the game’s description reads. “Explore a large, interconnected underworld crawling with cunning creatures, deadly traps, and a mysterious shadowy presence. Survive the perils of The Depths and unearth what lies below… or die trying.”
Below will release on Xbox One and PC on Friday, December 14th.
