THE BUZZ: 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors was a cult hit on the DS, and now it looks like Aksys Games will be bringing the sequel to North America.

EGM’s TAKE: Ah, 999—a game so beloved by so many, yet a game I still haven’t gotten around to playing!

I guess I’ll have to fix that sometime soon, as the latest issue of Nintendo Power reveals that Aksys Games—publisher of the original 999—will be bringing the next game in the series to our shores by year’s end.

While the Japanese title of the game translates to “Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die,” the English-language version name hasn’t officially been announced yet. Released on both the Vita and 3DS, Good People Die is a visual novel where a reluctant group of people are forced to play a deadly game where cooperating with or betraying others will be the key to survival.

Even if I haven’t gotten to 999 yet—I’m going to, seriously—I’m super stoked to hear the sequel announced for release here. Not just because so many other people are looking forward to it—so I’m glad they’ll now have the chance to play it in English—but also because I always love hearing that more niche Japanese games are making it our way.

Oh, and I totally dig the name “Good People Die.” I guess it probably wouldn’t fly over here, though.
