The launch of Aliens: Colonial Marines has been delayed until 2013, with a definitive release date now set for the game.

The game will release worldwide on February 12 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Sega mentioned that the release date for the Wii U version, “will be revealed at a later time.” The game was originally scheduled to release this Spring, but was pushed back to Fall before this most recent delay.

“I am thrilled to announce the definitive launch date for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Aliens: Colonial Marines is the culmination of a life-time of inspiration from the films and relentless passion and drive from the exceptionally talented development team behind the scenes,” said Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.

“We knew this game would be incredible from the moment Gearbox began developing Aliens: Colonial Marines. Now that the title is in its final stretch of development, we can confidently release the exact date that gamers will finally get to experience this blockbuster thrill-ride,” added Gary Knight, senior VP of marketing for Sega Europe and America.

It’s sad to see another 2012 game get delayed until 2013, but at least we finally have a solid release date. Hopefully the extra development time will allow the team to add some polish to the title and give us the Aliens game that we’ve all been waiting for.

What would make this the perfect Aliens game?
