THE BUZZ: Gearbox has announced that it plans to reveal Aliens: Colonial Marines’ multiplayer “very soon,” and that the feature been given, “a huge amount of attention” from the team.
“Multiplayer is a big deal for us. I think we’ll be looking for some opportunities very soon to get some people outside of our studios, including some journalists, to have a chance to preview the multiplayer game and play a bit of it,” said Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford. ”We’re really looking forward to testing it against other eyes and getting some feedback from that, so it shouldn’t be too long before we make that happen.”
Pitchford also addressed the game’s recent delay to Fall 2012: ”Creating deadlines is helpful to the process, but we do regret where it creates expectations that cause us to choose between changing expectations or compromising the vision.”
EGM’s TAKE: After this little tease we’re damn excited to see how multiplayer will turn out in the game. If the single-player is anything to go by then there should certainly be cause for anticipation. We imagine a scenario where you’re in a dark room with you team mates all frantically checking their sensors, and then hearing lots of shouting through your headset as the opposite team picks you off one-by-one as you fire crazily your weapons into the darkness. Now if this is how it turns out then we’re all in!
