Overwatch

Overwatch players are getting an early Christmas present, thanks to a small mistake from Blizzard.

This year’s in-game Winter Wonderland event kicked off with a trailer highlighting some of the new skins and emotes, giving players a glimpse of some of the content to be found in the event’s limited-time Loot Boxes. However, players soon discovered that two of the victory poses showcased in the trailer didn’t actually appear in the game.

In the trailer, both Bastion and Sombra are shown celebrating their victories with cups of tea. While these animations were used across various marketing material, they turned out to be impossible to obtain in-game, making the marketing somewhat misleading. To make up for the confusion, however, Blizzard is now planning to add both victory poses to the game, and all players will get them both for free.

“As an extra-special treat, we’re going to grant both of these poses to all of our players, regardless of whether or not they logged into Overwatch during the Winter Wonderland event and earned or purchased Winter Loot Boxes,” Josh Engen of the Overwatch team wrote on the game’s forums. “Once they’ve been added to the game, anyone who logs in will receive Somebra and Bastion’s ‘Toast’ victory poses.”

At the moment, both poses have been added to the PTR. They’ll appear in the full version of the game in January after the Winter Wonderland event ends.

All Overwatch players are getting these two cosmetics for free

To apologize for some misleading marketing, Blizzard is giving players some Winter Wonderland content at no cost.
