Amazon’s acquisition of game design talent continues with news that the company’s hired Portal designer Kim Swift and Far Cry 2 creative director Clint Hocking.
Swift, of course, is best known for designing Narbacular Drop with a group of DigiPen graduates, which in turn led to her hiring at Valve and subsequent work on Portal. Her more reject works include 2012’s Quantum Conundrum and the Ouya exclusive Soul Fjord.
Hocking got his start as a game designer on Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell in 2002, then became lead level designer on 2005’s Chaos Theory and creative director on 2008’s Far Cry 2—largely lauded as the best entry in the franchise.
The announcement of these hires comes mere hours after Amazon revealed their gaming and video-streaming set-top box the Amazon Fire TV.
