Amazon Still Not Selling Nintendo Wii U, Now Has 3DS XL In Stock

Posted on September 18, 2012 AT 04:10pm

Even though the Nintendo Wii U isn’t releasing until a week before Black Friday, people are already desperate to pre-order one. Unfortunately, most retailers are sold out—except Amazon, who never had them.

It’s been a curiosity that’s turned into a burning story within the gaming press, especially now that the Nintendo 3DS XL, formerly nowhere to be sold on Amazon, just recently turned up there.

However, the absence of the Wii U from the online retailer appears to be a regional issue, and perhaps not some type of secret inter-company feud behind the scenes.

Right now, the Wii U’s available in Europe for some unknown reason, but not in Japan.

Neither Amazon nor Nintendo have made any official press releases about the matter, further fueling the oddness.

While the Nintendo Wii U does have a product page within Amazon’s database, only third-party resellers are offering the console, with most of them asking for rather exorbitant prices. Right now, the cheapest option for the White 8GB Wii U is $450 before shipping, with the most expensive tag set at one thousand dollars before shipping.
