Angry Birds Devs Announce Amazing Alex Hits iOS, Android On July 12

It looks like Amazing Alex finally has a solid release date, as Rovio’s next non-Angry Birds title is heading to iPhones, iPads, and Android devices on July 12th. With all release platforms officially approved, the physics-based puzzler will debut in the App Store and Google Play catalog simultaneously.
In typical Rovio fashion, there’s also a new trailer that shows us just enough of the gameplay to get interested, with Alex using a variety of household items to create his own pitching machine.
Judging by the sizzle reel, many of the puzzles will be sports related Rube Goldbergian chain reaction levels, where you can either play straight though the original levels or create your own to share with others. It’s not entirely an original work, as Rovio bought the concept (which was originally called Casey’s Contraptions) from developers Snappy Touch and Mystery Coconut.
However, with Rovio’s huge fanbase and sizable promotional muscle, it’s clear that they’re aiming for this to the next Angry Birds. Do you see another billion-dollar franchise in Amazing Alex?
