Nintendo Switch

Nintendo closed out its latest Direct broadcast with an announcement fans have been waiting years for: Animal Crossing is coming to Switch. It’s the first mainline title in the series in five years.

Nintendo didn’t have any gameplay or much in the way of detail to offer just year. Even the logo shown simply referred to the game as “Animal Crossing,” and Nintendo’s press site says “Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch” is the working title, so it’s likely we’ll get a more specific subtitle later on.

The game will arrive sometime in 2019, so we’ll no doubt learn more at next year’s E3, if not before then.

In the meantime, you can check out the brief teaser featuring Tom Nook below.

In other Animal Crossing news, the Nintendo Direct also confirmed that Isabelle will be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a new fighter.
