A none-too-subtle deflection from developer Bioware suggests that Anthem could likely feature swords in the kits of select Javelin suits.
In a recent developer stream of Anthem‘s latest gameplay, executive producer Mark Darrah answered fan questions about the upcoming shared-world action game. One of the questions inquired about swords being in the game, to which Darrah responded “We’re not talking about the Interceptor and Storm at the moment,” accompanied by a bit of chuckling. This seems like a fairly blatant admission that at least one of those two Javelin suits uses a bladed weapon, as the developer’s deflection would have otherwise been less specific.
A clip of the stream response can be found below.
The gameplay that was released last week, while exciting, revitalized some criticism about one particular element of the game’s user interface: the massive numbers that explode from an enemy when the player deals damage. Bioware responded to these fan concerns with the reveal that the game will give players the option to adjust the size and opacity of these numbers, or just turn them off entirely.
Anthem is slated to launch February 22nd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. EA/Origin Access members will get to enjoy a trial of the game early on February 15th, while those subscribed to the newly announced Origins Access Premier tier can enjoy the full game on that date.
