After the recent confirmation that Anthem‘s Javelin exosuits will work on gear-based progression, we have now learned that coordinating specific pieces of said gear will reward players with a variety of perks.
As is customary with Anthem reveals, the latest details to drop for the game came by way of executive producer Mark Darrah responding to a fan on Twitter. This time, the fan inquiry was about set bonuses, or the different perks that are granted to players when wearing pieces of gear that are part of the same “set.” Darrah’s response wasn’t quite as in-depth as the question, but he did confirm there are set bonuses in Anthem.

This question was likely inspired by Darrah recently confirming the game’s gear-based progression system. Originally, fans believed each Javelin would have their own skill tree, based on some misinformation from EA, but Darrah cleared things up in a Twitter post.
Anthem‘s prime competitor in early 2019 is undeniably Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, and it appears set bonuses will be yet another feature the two action-RPG shooters will compete over. We don’t know much about either games’ gear systems, but a recent video by popular YouTuber Arekkz gave fans a preliminary idea of what to expect from set bonuses in The Division 2.
Anthem is slated to launch February 22nd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with EA/Origin Access members getting to jump into the game one week early. In other Anthem news, a developer recently hinted that the game may not support text chat on PC.
