MechRunner, a digital arcade-action title about a 40-foot transforming robot battling against an army of other robots, is coming to PS4 and PS Vita this summer, developer Spark Plug Games announced.
The titular mech of MechRunner, called XP-41, can switch between a bipedal robot mode and a tank mode. As the title also indicates, the title is an endless runner, meaning XP-41 is constantly moving forward, with players hacking and slashing enemy robots to scrap metal, transforming between tank and robot modes on the fly.
“Our goal has been to create a fast-paced action game with a throwback arcade feel to it and we’ve been working hard to make it look and play great on PS4 and PS Vita,” Spark Plug Games vice president Ben Lichius wrote in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
In development for over a year, the last leg of MechRunner’s development was aided through crowd-funding after a successful Kickstarter campaign that concluded May. Spark Plug was able to raise $28,434—a little over $3,000 more than their very modest $25,000 goal.
