THE BUZZ: The incredibly monotonous arcade hit of yesteryear Rampage is being made into a movie. The Midway Games classic has been picked up by New Line which is currently gathering writers to pen a story for the project. Producer John Rickard of Final Destination 5 fame is attached.

EGM’s TAKE: We’re hoping Rampage the movie is a period piece set in the future where oversized animals and crudely animated tribesmen live in a peaceful coexistence under the stars. The story will pick up when giant skyscrapers emerge from the ground and threaten the very foundation (no pun intended) that holds their society together. Now the only hope for survival are these overgrown, slowly moving monsters to punch, kick and chomp their way through a world that has changed forever. We also hope Nicolas Cage signs on to play the main boss building and George Lucas directs.
