Those of you who are anxious to get your hands on XL Games’ sandbox MMO, but don’t want to shell out $150, won’t have to wait much longer, because the closed beta is just a few weeks away.
Trion Worlds, who is publishing ArcheAge in the west, announced that patch 1.2 would be deployed to the alpha server later this week, and that a second alpha server will be opened up to offer more space to those who have purchased the $150 Founders Pack (includes alpha access).
“We’ve been hard at work getting ready for the release of Patch 1.2 on Alpha and are actively QA testing the build set to go live this week,” Trion wrote. “To differentiate from the Korean naming schema, we’ll be calling it ArcheAge Version 1.2, Build 4.1. Due to our hurry to get feedback from players on how the gameplay feels, it will not contain the Trion-specific game changes mentioned previously on the forums (such as Gilda Star rewards for international trade routes).”
The beta was originally set to begin late June/early July, but due to the decision of implementing patch 1.2 it was delayed by a couple of weeks.
“With Alpha testing about to begin, we’re glad to announce that Closed Beta Events will be starting in mid-to-late July. These events will last three to five days each with access being granted by random invitation or purchase of a Founder’s Pack. We’ll be hosting invite giveaways in the coming weeks and will open up European servers during these events.”
An open beta event will follow shortly after the final closed beta test, and this will be followed by head start access, and finally launch.
