Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment will be taking on a whole new endeavor—publishing books.

Announced in a recent press release, Blizzard’s new venture will be called “Blizzard Publishing.” The company is set to take on a unique dichotomy of tasks—publishing new works as well as reissuing previously out-of print titles.

“The creation of Blizzard Publishing gives us new opportunities to celebrate the art and stories of our games with Blizzard gamers as well as fantasy and sci-fi fans around the world,” said Lydia Bottegoni—senior vice president of story and franchise development at Blizzard.

This move makes me wonder just how much of the cancelled Overwatch graphic novel was due to the desire to “take the story in a different direction” and how much was the desire to have (surely a best-selling graphic novel) under its own label. Hrmmmmmmmmmmm.

Keep your eyes peeled for the first releases from Blizzard Publishing, World of Warcraft Adult Coloring Book, Warcraft: The Last Guardian, and Warcraft: Rise of the Horde.
