A new behind-the-scenes video shows how the developers at Warner Bros. Games Montreal captured performance for Copperhead’s introduction in the Batman: Arkham Origins.

The intro sequence, which sees Copperhead slithering down from rafters above an unsuspecting Batman, required two motion capture performances to nail. The first part was shot using a circus performer capable of making the slinky, snake-like moves while dangling from the pipework. For the short fight between the Dark Knight and the assassin, Warner Bros. Games Montreal tapped a female stunt performer who specializes in fighting to perform capoeira-like moves to evoke Copperhead’s serpentine presence.

Batman: Arkham Origins is out now for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. For more on the first Arkham game developed by a studio other than Rocksteady, check out Ray’s review.
