Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel has No Competitive Multiplayer

Speaking with website VG24/7, Visceral Games confirmed that its upcoming game, Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will not feature any competative multiplayer mode.

According to lead designer  Julien Lamoureux, “There is no competitive multiplayer. When we took a step back and looked at what we were trying to achieve, we just figured, ‘you know what? Let’s just put our resources into what we’re trying to do, which is a very intense co-op campaign experience. We didn’t want to stretch our resources between competitive multiplayer and co-op. Whenever you start a project you have a finite amount of resources, so it’s up to you what you want to put in place. For us it was just a logic choice, and we doubled down with the quality of the campaign, versus competitive.”

This comes as a surprise since both the original Army of Two and the sequel, Army of Two: The 40th Day had competative multiplayer. However, both of these games fell a little short of expectations, so perhaps concentrating on the much touted co-op is the right move. We’re just hoping the series keeps its sense of humor and verbal quips.

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is scheduled to release on March 26, 2013.

Marc Camronhas a new obsession: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. It has sucked me in like few games have before (the original Final Fantasy Tactics comes to mind). I must acquire all of the familiars, craft every item and win every arena battle! I'm looking for a 12 step program, but I'm having difficulty finding one that will accept me.
