Assassin’s Creed 3 lead animator Jonathan Cooper now with Naughty Dog

Posted on May 6, 2014 AT 01:30pm

Assassin’s Creed 3 animation director Jonathan Cooper is now with Naughty Dog, according to the animator’s online CV at LinkedIn.

In the wake of a string of Naughty Dog departures, starting with Uncharted series creative director and co-writer Amy Hennig and followed by Uncharted 4 game director Justin Richmond, The Last of Us lead artist Nate Wells, and character artist Michael Knowland, Cooper marks the company’s first (publicly known) new hire in the face of all these significant shake ups. Cooper’s LinkedIn page lists him as employed with Naughty Dog for three months now, since March 2014.

Cooper’s past works include serving as lead animator on Mass Effect and Mass Effect  and lead animator for Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s pre-production work.

Leading up to the jump to Naughty Dog, Cooper’s work at Ubisoft Montreal included serving as animation director for almost a year and a half on an unannounced project, “prototyping a revolutionary new kind of navigation system for next-gen systems.”

According to Cooper’s personal website, he’s working on the next Uncharted game.
